trying to figure out a troubleshooting plan

my sunroof that has been tinkered with a little lately now seems to randomly activate while driving, and rise up. not really the best season for it. I am a bit of a new with anything electrical but interested in learning, so if you feel generous with your knowledge, you may have to dumb it down to a 6th grade level

First guess would the switch is broken internally.

How does the switch feel when you operate it?

Do, or can you , find a good spare that you can test it with?

If it was made by Microsoft this would be considered a feature.

There's a circuit (feature) that automatically extends the sunroof arms when travelling over 3-5 mph thereby locking the roof. Something to look into perhaps...

Was rooting around like crazy - had put both sunroof seals on, and reglued the interior to the edge of the sunroof with some DAP adhesive, and was about to dive in deeper when i realized there also is a switch up be the rearview mirror that makes the motors work or not work depending on of the sunroof is on and depressing the switch. The 5 mph thing may also have been it but after resmoothing the inner sunroof seal, the thing seems to sit better and and maybe the arms now can slide into the slots cleanly now.

didnt know about the mph sender. Glad to have it seemingly figured out, weather is terrible where i live lately
