After getting our clutch master cylinder replaced last week, we hit the road!
We basically looped the Olympic Peninsula in Washington, drove up to Hurricane Ridge, visited La Push, Aberdeen, and Lake Quinault.
Best roads: Highway 101 for view, Highway 109 and Moclip Highway for curves
Places to eat: Lake Quinault Lodge for a great view, but $$$
Ale House in Aberdeen was a good place to relax after a long drive
We saw rain, snow, ice, gravel, sun, and everything in between on the 600 mile journey between Friday afternoon and Sunday evening. Roads were mostly devoid of traffic after we got out Seattle's unbelievable congestion. The 944 with stock sport suspension (M456) road over gravel extremely well but potholes were back breaking. We bought chains (national park requirement) to get up to Hurricane Ridge, but didn't use them.
Does anyone know if we can use chains on a 944 without ripping apart our fender well?
Merry Christmas--
The route, we traveled counter clockwise from Seattle
Road up to Hurricane Ridge
Top of the ridge
Top of the ridge again, skiers in the background
La Push, sleepy little town with great views
Can't believe we saw this the same day as the ski hill
Gorgeous photos! What I love about Washington is just he sheer diversity of our State. Within a days drive you can be at the ocean, in the mountains, in the middle of the rain forest, desert and more. Simply amazing!
