The Ftech9 DME made specifically for the class is allowed and is equal in performance to this OEM one, but you get a spare AFM if you buy this combo which could help if you are trying to update your DME from early to late since there is the AFM changeover.
I refunded you today because the early dme isn't playing nice with my car. Sorry for wasting your time!
I've researched online & there's differences in alt sensors & tach and other things... The car cranks but needs throttle manipulation to start.
I apologize. The ecm change swap is NOT plugnplay.
IF ANYONE HAS A KNOWN GOOD 88 dme/afm, please contact Jeff.... he's a very good buyer - highly recommended!
Did you change the AFM to an early one as well? We swap early and late DME/AFM all the time with no issues so there might be an issue with your early parts you swapped in.
Received the refund today and thank you for the kind words.
Noah,
One thing I forgot to say in our PM conversation is there are two kinds of "early" DME's. There are ones from 83-85.5 then 85.5-87. Make sure you have the correct matching set for the year of the DME and year on the AFM.

This is a good point. And it's also possible that the ecm is faulty (it looks a little bit rough). Seems to drive good once on the throttle, but like I say the car doesn't start without giving it gas. Does that sound like a incorrect afm? I'd think not... but maybe wrong.
