Default Larger FPR needed when chipping?

Good Evening,

My 944 Turbo has the Windward Performance DME and KLR. Should the car be running a larger FPR once it's chipped? I am familiar with the Audi world - where on 2.7T's you're looking at larger injectors and FPR as soon as you chip. Not sure if its the same here. The car boosts great, runs strong, however if pedal is to the metal - it will abruptly cut in and out --- almost like a throttle position sensor fault (which has been replaced, or a loss of ground). Engine legitimately feels like it cuts down in a matter of 1/4 second and then cuts back in; cuts out; and back in... etc.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Paul

Wideband needed! Generally, yes, most chips call for a 3 bar FPR.

Agree 100% on needing a wideband.

On my 951 I had 3bar fpr, 55# injectors and a Lindsey Racing Super 75 turbo. It had a chip tuned 18-25 PSI.

Being cautious I got a wideband before bumping up the boost (started at 15psi with wasgate spring) and saw that I was getting lean on boost even just going to 18PSI. I had a MAFTuner and maxing out the voltage on the injectors, could not get enough fuel.

These are old cars often tuned with old methods. I personally wouldn't trust turning up the boost without knowing if the car was running lean. Can get a wideband 02 kit for a couple hundred, which is much better than a rebuild.

I haven't heard of windward but certainly sounds like you're going into a limp mode. For sure you need a boost and AFR gauge as a starting point.
