Default troubleshooting sunroof

so got my replacement gears and ready to go to town

seems like the motor turns forward but doesn't retract. as i depress the button for "up" i saw one gear turn, and then now I still hear the motor but don't see the gear turn anymore.

pushing down does nothing.

What car and year do you have? It matters.

Typically, the teeth shear off of the gears - thus the gears will stop turning.

Have you checked the procedures in http://www.clarks-garage.com/ ? Definitely read through that and follow all of the steps. If you end up having to replace the plastic gears one recommendation i have is to not remove the trim seal around the rear hatch (forward portion behind the sunroof gears). I found (the 2nd time i went in) is that you can access everything quite easily by just removing the trim around the rear portion of the sunroof to get to the gear assembly. Good luck.
