How test hatch release motor?
The electric opening worked 2 times after I "fixed" it by connecting a loose wire on the switch. Now it's dead. There's current coming to the motor connector but no signs of life from motor itself. I've taken it out and would like to power it up to confirm if it's dead or if the fault is elsewhere in the system. I'm no electric wizard, I can tell positive and ground apart, that's about it. There are 4 wires that goes into the motor; blue, red, white and brown. What do I connect if I have a 12v power source? Don't want to destroy it (if it isn't broke already)

You can't destroy it by putting 12vdc to red and ground to brown. Brown is ground, red is 12 vdc, and one of the others is the output from the switch. Play with it and it will either work or not.

Ok thanks. Well I succeeded in making it go round and round when connecting the positive to the red and blue. I guess the white and blue controls the cycle somehow. So I assume the motor is healthy and that I should look for the problem elsewhere. I'll start with the switch and ground points. Only found one ground in the trunk, a bit to the left hand side. Are there more of those in the trunk?
