Default 160k too much?

I am looking to get an 85 and 1/2 944 w/160k miles. I want to use the car for autox but am wondering if the engine is to old to put that much stress on? It has been well maintained, I knew the previous owner, and the current owner is a mechanic also. He is only asking 2500 for the car but i think I can get it for 2. It is in good shape except for a dent in the rear quarter panel. Is this a deal I should go for? It has a new timing belt, spring clutch, seals, coolant and a few other things. And it has a clean carfax report.

Guys here are running cars with 250 300 +. Ask Legoland, he has one with like six light years on it.

Mine has just rolled over 106K. I have had it for a year and a half. It seems to run best the day after I have had it out on a nice long spirited run. I think nothing of kicking it up to 5500 RPM on some wicked up hill twisty. Running strong as a daily driver.

My car has 144K now and it runs very strong. The spark plugs tell a lot on what condition the car is. My plugs are perfect brownish color. I also suspect that a compression test would show good reading for my car. Before u buy the car, do a compression test. Its worth it.

Not an issue, go with it. You'd have to had the head off of a high mileage domestic engine and compared it to one of ours to really appreciate just how long our engines last with proper maintenance.

I bought my '88 with 156k on the clock, and have done auto-x's in it, no major problems to report. Runs very strong as a daily driver, which includes a considerable amount of spirited driving. I say go for it!

I've got 243,xxx miles on mine and it's on it's 2nd clutch. Not too bad if you ask me. As long as all the matnence has been performed, then it's all good.

Not at all. My 20-year old 83 has 202K and runs strong. Like jabba, I've been through 2 clutches and several timing/balance/waterpump replacements, but the engine has been extremely reliable.

Turbos are more delicate, but when properly maintained have similar results.

I've got 190K on my S2. And it still puts a smile on my face.

Steve, love the avatar. Similar to the look on a friend of mine's face after a spirited 951 jaunt.

180K and I run the heck out of it, everywhere I go. As long as its at operating temp, I can hardly go anywhere without many many shots to redline In the last 50k I've replaced belts, axle, dme relay, and voltage regulator. Radiator had a little leak. A good PPI = A fun car for a really long time
