944 Front Brake Lines sucking air
Hey Rennlisters,
Finishing up my first brake job on my '84 944 NA. I'm bleeding the brakes, and the rears went without a hitch. The front brake lines are getting bubbles in the line when bleeding, and I swear I can hear the connection between the brake lines and the calipers suck air. At that connection the brake line screws directly into the caliper (not a flare fitting), and I don't really want to crank down on them any more for fear of stripping out the threads. Do folks usually use thread sealant at this connection? I bought OEM brake lines. Perhaps I need to go buy OE ones.... Anybody else experience this before? The threaded portion of these OEM lines is longer than the originals, and so maybe it's not seating perfectly? Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Check out the caliper fitting. Sometimes the guys making/selling these lines use an inverted flare fitting at this junction instead of a bubble flare. Or vice-versa. The two are incompatible even when screwed together. It's gotta be bubble to bubble or inverted flare to inverted flare..apples to apples. Good luck
