Default bumper flaring out

I've noticed many 944's have this problem where the bumper flares outwards on both sides and can be noticed if you look at a 944 from the front. Has anyone figured out how to fix this?

If you mean the portion of the lower valance in front of the tires there is a brace that holds them in place. Lot's of time they are broken or missing.

The brace at the bottom isn't the issue. The rear edge of the valence bows out above the brace over time, especially on the passenger side for some reason. I was thinking of trying to pop-rivet a strip of metal on the inside of the edge to see if it would hold it in the correct shape.

There are a few connectors on the back that you can attach zip ties to and run them to something around the brace. Just find the angle(s) you need and tighten until it looks right. My supports had rusted out and were no longer connected to the valence. Saves weight and functions fine.

The lower valance is very low and consequently is the first to bump against curbing on a diagonal parking space , hence the oft times seen right side bending inward.

I will say I have repaired many of my friends cars by doing the right brace adjustment. Sometimes they are broken and need replacing or tightening at the bottom.

Sometimes the valance needs to be taken off and rebuilt by reinforcing the cracked areas with resin or glue and screws or new material.

OR, if too far gone the whole valance needs to be replaced. They are available aftermarket at about 1/2 the cost of new.

944online sells some variants that many have found to work.

The cause is from not being careful enough around curbing or low driveways. Sometimes animals have taken them out. I saw one guy's car after connecting with a small herd of feral hogs in south Florida; it was a very bad outcome for both the baby hogs as well as the car. Kind of like hitting small boulders and just as solid.

I bought a aftermarket lower valance/spoiler and it was horrible. I returned it.

Marc, what brand did you buy? And what didn't you like about it? I've been eyeing one

From Ecklers. I've bought parts for my Corvette from them before and never a problem. Anyhow it was warped in every direction and didn't look like anything in the picture. They took it back and paid for the shipping so there customer service is good.
