smoke?
under hard acceleration i notice a poof of dark smoke come from what appears to be under the dash to the left of the glove box? Could this be from an oil leak that drips onto the headers maybe? thanx...

I had the exact same problem. At first it only happened the auto X, then gradually it happened after highway driving. Now it happens everytime I drive the car for more than 10 minutes (Driving like a granny also). Expect the same to happen to you unless you repair the leaky seal. it is usually caused by seals towards the rear of the block. You are just going to have to search for it, there are many possibilities.
