Push Start it?

 

Tried that. No good.

 

My S2 had the same symptoms. As long as the starter is not grinding badly, I don't think it's the culprit. Also, if the starter were bad, I think you could have started the car by pushing it.

No, the alarm should appear to work normally, but the broken alarm control module blocks the DME and keeps the car from starting. My alarm control module failed and the car would crank and crank to no avail. We tried a DME relay and it didn't solve the problem. When we jumped the DME pins as I indicated, it started.

Have you carried anything heavy in your passenger side footwell area, lately? The module sits behind a plywood panel and is fairly well isolated, but it could have broken a resistor from some knocking.

 

Have not carried anything heavy. I'm having the car towed home this afternoon after work so I can have a better look and availability to my tools. I will try jumping the DME relay pins to see if it starts. If it does, then the alarm controller is bad?

 

It's most likely. At least it was the case for me. If so, they're not cheap, so try to locate a used one. Its a 928 part.

Why not try jumpstarting it before towing it? You can make a jumper wire quite easily. Might save you the towing bill. Like was said, when you jump the pins you need to unplug one when shutting the car off, or the fuel pump will run indefinitely, flooding the engine with fuel.

Have you checked for spark and gas?
