I keep forgetting the color of the Carrera I'm babysitting. Which is discouraging because I should know these things. I don't have the color code off the top of my head, but I know it's a fairly common 944 color. If anyone recognizes it, or at least has a website that'll tell me, it'd be much appreciated.
Thanks,
BB.

Thanks, that confirms it!
It actually seems to be a fairly rare 911 color. I've only ever come across four other 911s in that color in the past ten years: one in person, one on the autotrader website, one on the cover of a shop manual and one owned by a guy on another forum I frequent. That's not to say that it really is a rare color, I just don't see a lot of them around...

isn't your car that color? (looking at your avatar)
Anyways, yeah, garnet red. Not my favorite, but real nice none the less. I think this color only came stock on the 993's, but a lot of other cars have been repainted it.

What year is it? I had an '89 that looked like that and it was "velvet red" (samtrot in German). Sorry I can't give you the paint code 'cuz I sold it last summer. Mine had a dark grey interior - it was quite a striking combination. I'll attach a picture when I find one.
I know velvet red was available on 928s as well, but I don't know about 944s.

Here is some related info that might be interesting to some...
I use this site as a reference and it seems to be pretty accurate, here is what they say was available to all 86 models:
