Default What is it with the 944?????

What is it with my 87 944 that makes me just want to drive it all the time? Is it the fact that it is German made? Or the awsome handling? The "solidness"? Or just the fact that its a attractive car? I just think that im so impressed with the car because it is 16 years old and it drives and handels as good if not better then most newer sportcars. I also have a 99 355 that i love but i dont compare the two because its like comparing oranges to appels, the 355 is a powerhouse and thats a plus but it still... There is just something about this older car, maby its my loveaffair with the 80's......Let me know what you guys think of the 944.

I would second that, although I do not have a 355 The 944 is a blast to drive. Maybe it is simply the soul that it brings out inside of us. The yell you want to make as you make the twisty turns down a moonlit road at night with the top off. The sound of the engine echoing off the trees. Going just a little too fast, but not quite, and enjoying every shift, whether down or up. Turning up the radio until to your favorite driving song ( really isn't just the song that is on the radio at the time ). I could buy a "faster" car. But it wouldn't have the soul that brings mine out to play

My 944 has been down for a month and it is killing me. Stupid $3.00 detente in the transmission... It will be back together soon and so will the smile on my face.

I've driven a 308 Quattrovalve and you are right, there is something about the 944 that is very hard to attain in other high performance cars. It's said that every Ferrari has its own personality because of the "hands on" assembly. No two are quite alike...Porsche is probably the only mass production car that can come close to that, every car has a different attitude to it.

Doesnt sound like a troll. He is FOR the 944, just comparing it to his other ride. I dont see trolliness in that. Just like when i compared my new ride to the S2. Then again...i have over 600 posts declaring my alligence to the S2 and Porsche! No questions there!

Hmm...just out of curiosity, how would you define a troll? What about the post made you say that? Just wondering - Al

I've driven a 78 308, and I enjoyed it more than my 951, even though it's not as quick. I think it was the handling of the 308 that won me over (and the sound at 6,000+) , this one had fresh koni's so that probably helped a bit. I love my 951 though, it's 17 years old and no rattles, the engine is amazingly smooth, the door still shuts with a satisfying thud. It works for me!

Well, here comes a new (6 posts) guy with an italian sounding name (just like the Godfather, Joe Castellanos, Geneva) and claims to have an expensive car that most 944-owners would not even consider buying unless they could get a 993tt first..

Just a feeling, and since there are no real reasoning or questioning in the post it lines up with the same profile as the other recent trolls on this list.

I'm not even going to ask for pictures or proof this time. If we keep getting these troll attacks (let's hope I'm wrong about this one) Rennlist will lose it's value and I'd wish for separate forums that only paying members can contribute to - and I'd sure hate if that would be a reality but it takes to much time browsing through worthless threads that probably only exists because of some loser has not received a proper education in normal behavior.

Cheers.
