Need a couple of rear tires. The current tires are 245-45-16. What would be a good tire for daily use? I would like something that is quiet at hwy speeds and has good mileage rating. There are not many tires made this size so what be a good replacement size? One tire place suggest 225 /50 R16?

Plenty of tire's in the 16 inch range. Go to tirerack.com and do the research yourself. Anything you ask here is going to be very subjective at best.

The reason I was asking is that Tire Rack shows one tire in the 245-45-16 range. I was just curious as to the next best size with more alternatives. That is why I ask the question, just hoping to get opinions. Doesn't look like it will happen. Seems like it is difficult to get simple answers to simple questions.
