The 924 has a flatter profile to the hood... like the angle is different. Anyone know why it was changed on the 944 model? Air cleaner/distributer/engine related or just for appearance?

Maybe it's an optical illusion but compare the photos in the upper rhs of this page: http://www.deutschnine.com/mm5/merch...-aero-dynamics

It's not logical for it to be different since the nose & fenders are interchangable. Visually the front valance changes appearance (give the little 24 a skinnier wedge). Maybe we should nose a 44 and 24 next to each other & take a pic.

Kind of a technicality, as the 944 hood has all the accommodations for the prop, and the hood lift kit is actually just a couple of brackets spot welded onto the subframe, with two ball sockets spot welded to the upper chassis spars behind the firewall. These bits were actually available as a kit to upgrade cars without the strut lifts. 1982 US-spec models had these as standard, and I suspect the ongoing 83-85 ROW 2.0L-based cars did as well.
