Default Pretty sure my clutch is going out or is it the slave?

So I had an engine fire about a 8 months ago nothing major I couldn't fix, but the reason it started was the owner before (or someone that owned my 944) left the positive battery cable exposed near the clutch line. Soon came sparks then it arched right through and caught my bay on fire. Replaced everything and was bleeding my clutch when I noticed no matter how many time I bleed it the pedal feel isn't the same and all the fluid I drain comes out black any suggestions??

Sounds like that you might have some sort of residue left in the brake master cylinder or a clutch line that has been affected by the heat of the fire and is now slowly disintegrating into the slave cylinder. disconnect the clutch feed line and see if the fluid coming from there is clear or black. If it's clear, the the clutch slave is suspect. If it's black then it may be the line or the clutch master inner seals. You may have to replace them both or all three before it's said done, and over..Or you could pull the line at the clutch master and check the fluid there for clear or color. I would suspect the master cylinder since you had an engine bay fire. Hope this helps some.

Wouldn't the slave be leaking into the footwell if it was failing?

Not necessarily. If there's debris inside the line, it can cause malfunctions with no external indication, i.e., oil leaks.

if your master cylinders where exposed to high temps, I would assume detrimental effects on the internal rubber bits. probably why your fluid comes out black.

I would change both masters.
