Waterproof Relays
#16
Robby, I got some of my messages zapped by MSN. But I have checked on the oddball bulbs you wanted.I will be ordering bulbs in the next couple weeks and I'm trying to figure out how many to order so I can fill everyone and get the best cost. If I get a couple of the bulbs shipped to me for $5 bucks and then have to ship them out for another $5, that doesn't make much sense as shipping is now the major cost component. And I have to buy incandescents in boxes of ten.
Anyway, I have your ideas on what you want around here somewhere and I'll just fill in the blanks and build your order the way I think it should go. You can get the whole battery cable kit once I get some parts and build more negatives. How does that sound?

Pete, What you are experiencing is exactly the reason I use these. It is a long story on how I found them. In any event these will solve all your relay problems for good. Well, for at least a quarter million cycles when you may have to replace the relay for under 10 bucks.
Tas, Most folks with my harness are using 90/100 watt bulbs, so about 16 amps for the pair. Seperate circuits for low/dipped and high/main beams. The reason I went with 40 amp relays is they don't cost much more than lower amp relays and they are built much better for longer life. Oh, and when you jump up to waterproof relays of this quality, they don't make them any lower!
They are really good relays and eliminate all corrosion problems, are overbuilt so the contacts and connectors can take plenty of current without frying out, just a damn good product. If you want a few I can ship them down to you via USPS pretty cheap. I can dig out some of my shipping costs to other guys in OZ and NZ, but I seem to recall it was under $10USD for 5 day delivery.

Hey Dan, I sent you an e-mail, hopefully MSN didn't smack me down. You might want to put something like <removethis> in the middle of your e-mail address when you post it though, so spam scanners won't be able to use it if they happen to scan this page for addresses.

Sam, I got your e-mail of this morning.
You are right about putting in a blocker in email postings. I first put my email address up on a general post on Rennlist a month or two ago. I don't know if that was the cause, but I now get emails for ***** enlargement, breast enlargement, weight loss, and how to make a million bucks for no effort, about 10 to 20 times a day. I don't go to the porno sites so that wouldn't be it. The only other thing is I had to give my email address, about the same time frame, to the local StarTribune newspaper to get on their site and read the local news. I bet those far left liberal perverts are selling their subscriber list. Bastards!

Martin, when you say "complete kit" do you mean the Full Boat Headlight package? Just say yes and send me a deposit for $100. I'm getting about there to build for people that want in on it, if their deposit checks show up.
I started this thread to offer the relays to guys that are doing other projects like the Euro driving lights and fogs. Many people wanted me to either make a wiring package for this or at least sell them the parts. I don't think the market is big enough for the Euro driving/fog harness so have never done it. Since I need to order all the parts for the headlight harness I thought I would offer the relay package so people can get those top notch components for their own projects.
Doesn't make any cost difference to me unless we pop the order up over 3500 parts, which is pretty unlikely. I was just offering Porsche owners the chance to get them for their upgrade jobs. These are really fine, and I looked at a huge pile of options.
If you want some #10 gauge military/ marine, tinned, 105 strand wire, you can get that too. It is sort of hard to find in small quantities at any price. 20 cents a foot and I am using brown, white and yellow insulation jackets. I also have some red #10 gauge, silver plated, teflon insulation, wire if you have a really hot duty. That is very special and would cost a buck a foot. I use it because the insulation makes the total OD smaller to fit through a gland designed for a maximum 12 gauge wire. It is really great stuff; you can put a torch on it and wonder when the insulation will finally give out. The copper wires are silver plated rather than tin because silver has a higher melting point.
Anyway, let me know what you want as I will be putting in orders next week and I won't be able to go back and ask for little dribs and drabs of additional items. In other words, it is now or next spring, or never.

Hi Jon, I got your last e-mail on the 17th which listed the parts you wanted.
I've sort of held off on finalizing things because people keep jumping in and wanting stuff, but I have you down and you will get what you want.
These relays are going like hotcakes, so I want to let them settle out. I need to order them in one shot of good size. Everyone that misses on these posts and chances to buy are out of luck for at least 6 months or forever.
For the rear dead light procrastinators, you guys are out of luck. Robby got the last of those new sockets in North America so you are off to the parts breakers and hope the tabs aren't too corroded.

Ok, I'm putting in the remaining parts order this week for the headlight harness as that is a go. So if anyone else wants the relays let me know before Halloween.
Brian you can get an odd number of relays, like 5, as some guys are also getting odd numbers so it will all mix and match in the end.
