Default Has anyone fit an amp under the front seat?

Has anyone fit an amplifier under the front seat (without reducing its ability to accomodate a passenger/driver or move back and forth)?

If so, what size worked for you? What brand/model of amplifier did you use?

I've done two installations where the amp was shoe-horned into the spare tire well, but I'm thinking it might be nicer to reduce the run of rca wires from the head unit, and speaker wire back to the door speakers.

Thanks!

It would have to be a very thin amp. There is not alot of room under there.

If you do fit it under there, there are goign to be heating problems, thats why mine is on the back floor. The back seat is useless anyways, so why not!

My P/O installed one under the glove box. I didn't even notice until a month after I bought the car! It's only about an inch and a quarter in height.

Unfortunately, my aftermarket alarm is under the glovebox, so that won't work for me.

It would be a shame to take up precious hatch space.. could you some how rig it up in a wheel well?

I'm with RMills944, I put mine in the passenger side rear floorboard. It's hard to see down there, with the tinting, so it's safer than the rear deck, and I can take out the deck carpet still.
It restricts the seat from sliding back all the way (it's a wide four channel amp), so anybody over 6' is a bit uncomfortable in my passenger seat, but I don't know any ladies that tall.

I have mine on the passneger floorboard/underdash area- it's on the wooden board that covers the ECU- I'm about to bolt it in so that it's off the ground slightly- the passenger's feet will STILL hit it, but, it;s rigid steel, so this will be fine- they use it as a foot rest now. Anyway, it is a small ADS 4-ch amp- not sure if THIS would affect your alarm... And YES, I HAVE heard that SOME have in fact, mounted them under our passenger seats- not sure the details, but, I agree that not just any amp would fit...

I had my last 2 amps in the spare tire well.

The spare tire would still fit in, but it wasn't in an ideal angle so that the hatch carpet would sit down nicely.

I think the wells behind the back wheels are a little too small for this, because of their shape.

The amp that's in my car was originally in the driver side well- it was really the best place in the car for it as far as fitment went- plenty of room to breath, even though it was covered by the carpet- it hung off the bottom & was bolted in tightly- was concealed, etc- even gave more rearward weight dist (exactly what we need to help get our cars to that perfect 49/51 from our stock 51/49...)- had I known what a bitch it would be to mess with, I would have left mine there. Not sure how big your amp is, but there was PLENTY of room for my 4-ch- it is small- not THAT small though...

I'm sure my ADS 4-ch would fit- I just didn't want to have to remove the seat & thread the wire under there, etc- as it is, the RCA's are 3ft each & fit fine- that was kind of nice :-) I haven't seen many 4-ch's as small as this one though- kind of sucks! I mean HELL, this ADS 4-ch is >10yrs old & it works well- you'd think w/all this new BS technology we've got, we'd have SOMONE who could make a smaller 4-ch amp...
