I have a DME that I'll be sending in soon.

Have you seen DME type issues within the KLR unit? If so, any plans on a fix in the future?

You mentioned OBD support previously, timeframe to implementation?

Ftech9, I noticed you are out of the DME Sport for the 951. Would you put me on the list for your next bactch. Can I also send a money order or check with the old DME for the purchase. Thanks

Creating a replacement DME for the ML4.x used on the 944S, 944S2, 968 and 964 is definitely on my list. However, I need to complete my road map to fully support the ML3.x DME for the 944 and 944 Turbo first. This is mainly because I own these cars and I really want to upgrade them for my own selfish enjoyment.

The KLR definitely has issues just like the DME, the one in my 951 failed years ago with a bad 5V regulator circuit. Bosch tried to be smart and designed in a switching power supply to reduce heat. However they also added a lot of complexity with several points of potential failure. I actually disabled this circuit and designed a small circuit board to replace it. Its not too complicated relative to the DME, once I finish up the OBD project I might focus on it next.

The OBD Module project is my main focus at the moment. I took a slight detour and pushed out the SPORT DME mainly because I wanted a few provisions to better support it. I am moving more towards a performance oriented product line and added the feature enhancements for good measure. You can follow the OBD project on this thread:

Unfortunately, a timetable is complicated. I hope to have something tangible by the end of this year, I will keep everyone posted as progress is made.

The SORT DME should be in stock on the websight. Be sure you are looking under the "SPORT" DME and not the older "944" ad "944 Turbo" DMEs.

Awesome. Great Job and Thank You! You are very much appreciated in our little community! I had my 1987 944 Turbo DME open just 2 days ago and I can see heat damage in certain areas and fine layers of rust forming on the circuit boards. The KLR still looks brand new inside. I don't know how the hell you figured out what all of those transistors do and how to replace them, but God Bless Your Heart. If I kept my AFM I would definitely buy one of your DMEs. I actually saw 944 NA AFM potentiator boards for sale on Ali Express. I'm sure they are not accurate and cheap garbage like most of the junk on Alibaba and Ali Express. They even have a 944 NA reproduction AFM. I don't know if it's for early or late cars. Again, probably just junk and you would be much better off getting your AFM rebuild by the ECU Doctor or someplace like that. I'm up in the air over VEMS, because it is plug and play, can use an MAF or MAP sensor and it self tunes. Buying M-Tune or another brand MAF kit and the new DME would cost more or around the same as VEMS. It's a tough decision. Personally, I prefer using an improved Bosch Motronic DME like your's. I bought the A-Tune from LR and it never worked once. The car never started. I put my regular performance chip back in and it started right up. I was in the middle of rebuilding my head and doing a head gasket job, so I put the A-Tune in a box and called LR a couple months later. They gave me the run around, never called me back or returned my emails. Great customer service. Over the years I have spent over $7000 at that place and they nickle and dimed me over a chip and chipboard. I told myself I would never buy anything from them again. Anyway. Thank you for your contributions! Kevin Anderson

Just to let everyone know, the new "SPORT" DME for the 944/951 is back in stock. Hopefully, this batch will last longer than a couple weeks.

Count me in as soon as you get around to the 16v cars - I have your relay and it’s exceptional. Any time line on a 16v DME? 2020-2021?

Great work. Quick question. Do any resistors need to be snipped in order to accept an after market map sensor?

I just joined Rennlist to learn more about the Ftech9 DME. I own a 1989 944 with the 8 valve 2.7L engine and have been wanting to find out if the Ftech9 DME would work in my car since it is not specifically mentioned on the website. It is my daily driver and is currently not running. All signs point to an issue with the DME which I opened and found two broken traces on the board. I can repair those and resolder part or all of it but honestly would prefer to just remove the 33 year old electronics from the equation. Can you confirm that my car is supported as mentioned in the previous post by just using the chip from my current DME?

Hi Kerry, welcome to Rennlist!

Yes, the SPORT DME is compatible with your 1989 944 8-Vlave 2.7L. The only difference is the program which can be reused from your core DME.

Joe, thanks for all that you do. I appreciate it, and certainly not alone in that regard. Merry Christmas.
