Default Muffler Recommendation?

I don't the sound of my aftermarket muffler (no idea what it is), the exhaust tube is 3". Lindsey Racing has Magnaflow and Borla, what would rennlisters recommend? I don't like too loud.

Most "turbo" or "blow through" mufflers will sound similar. The packing does change the noise a bit from Stainless Steel or Glass packing. (glass is cheaper and more common)

If you want to quieten it down, i suggest either get a bigger mid muffler, probably a resonator instead.
It's hard to keep a 3" quiet. Unless you've got a tuned muffler (like stock).

You have a s2? why do you even have a 3" on it. I'd put a 2.5" on it and throw a 951 muffler on the rear.

Default Exhaust Recommendation

Thanks Pauly, Yes, is an S2. I don't know why the PO put a 3" on it, doesn't even fit right on the rear bumper. I thought it wouldn't bother me while I take care of other things but it does so I might do something about it sooner than planned.

My 951 had 3" axle-back with no muffler when I bought it 2 years ago. Sounded great - for about 10 minutes. I bought a Borla XR-1 from Summit racing and it is much nicer. I can still hear the engine rev but can also have a conversation or hear the radio. Good compromise for me.

I'm running a SS magnaflow with a 3" on my 951 no cat, was a little loud at first but I've gotten used to it since then. I don't think its too loud while driving, until I get on it and the WG opens. Here's a vid after it was installed idling and a little rev.

Default Exhaust

Shane, Provair, Thanks for the Videos. I'll probably go with Borla.

Shane, Where did you get your front splitter?
