When removing the fuel rail, can I leave the injectors connected to the rail?

Will the injectors and rail just pop out and be moved out of the way?

I did- If you pull the spring clips off (Careful, they have a tendency to pop off into the engine bay!) the injectors should come off with the rail. It's a good time to check the condition of the o-rings on the injectors as well.
My o-rings looked OK, but I replaced them anyway.

I wonder why the fuse did not protect the circuit when it shorted?

The current through the circuit has to spike before the fuse can trip. The quality of the fuse determines how quickly it trips.

I have got in the intake pulled.

Now the two sets of wires are the PS and the oil pressure sender.

They are burnt all the way up into the main wiring harness at the firewall!

Anyone one have any suggestions on what I should do.
I really don't want to have to pull all the wiring out of the car.

Does anyone know where the PS and oil pressure sender wires start?
Could I disconnect them from their and pull new wires for the sender?

Please HELP!!!

Thanks.

Q.. did the fire cause the insulator to melt on the wires, or did excess current melt the insulator off of both sets (PS and oil pressure) sender wires?

IE- is ithe insulator on the wires gone without presence of fire?

High current did all the damage.
I never saw any flames.

Got lucky on that one.

It looks like these wires are going into the harness that goes to the DME.

All the wires at the DME look good.

Does anyone know if these actually do go to the DME and if so which pins the are?

Can you buy the entire wiring harness that comes from the DME?

Actually pages 97-115 Looks like what I need.

It shows oil pressure switch and a servo pump switch on the same circuit.
Is a servo pump the PS pump?

I don't really know wha I'm looking at with these diagrams.

Is there anyone with the manual that can put this in laymans terms for me?

Thanks.

Here is a link to the diagram

http://members.rennlist.com/eleburn/

The servo pump is in the middle right on the first diagram and the circuit goes to the middle left on the second diagram to the oil pressure swtich.

Heres an easier question.

What gauge wire is the oil pressure sender?

I think I've isolate that circuit. It actually goes into the harness for the DME but then goes out and to the dash.

Man I really need a beer.

Sorry, a bit distracted at the moment (see my other post). The numbers and letters next to each track on the diagram are the wire thickness in mm2 followed by the colour code.

It appears that the pressure sender uses 0.75 mm2 which from the conversion tables seems to be about 18 AWG. Try a google search on electrical cable conversion.
