Default Ebay Question

Hey Guys,

I was bidding on the 944 and I got this BULL**** message when I bid with 7 seconds and WON taht the seller ended auction early ( WITH FIVE SECONDS LEFT ) because of an error in the auction. I won for $1,211.05 and that guy cancelled it...Is he allowed to do that?

(I'm Mike Markota)

It sounds like crap to me. An error in listing but it took him what, a week to find out? I would email ebay about it, but maybe he already sold it and just cancelled to avoid paying ebay any fees.

What a bunch of crap! He obviously didn't want to let someone get such a good deal on the car

Did he give any reasons for the cancellation?

Ebay is perfectly fine with that, people are allowed to end the auction whenever they want. If it does not meet the price that they would like, they just end it. I have lost a couple of good deals this way, but Ebay just doesn't really care about all the problems that go on.

Definitely a load of crap, but bear in mind that eBay is just chock full of it. If you read through this guy's feedback -- there's just way too much weirdness. I don't think there was ever a good deal to be had here. I'm sorry to hear that you had to go through this.

A lil much for a salvaged car with unknown belts and a cracked windshield... oh well..I'll just have to look for a better deal...

I have had the same thing happen to me and the guy e-mailed me back and said that it stated in the ad that he could end the auction at anytime. When i e-mailed him a copy of the auction to prove that it did not state that anywhere i never heard from him again.

The exact same thing happenned to me a while back. I had put in a bid early after which another bidder bid 10 times to get over my price. I let it go until the last 10 seconds of the auction at which time I bid again. After bidding the screen says auction ended early due to error. Turns out he had his brother bid up the price and was screwed when I left him there as the high bidder. He emailed me that he needed to sell for more money. I reported him to Ebay and of course they slapped him on the wrist.

That's why I think sniping is the only way to go.
