Fixed stubborn door handle SOLVED
I posted a while back about my door handle thinking that the lock might be worn to the point the stock linkage arm did not provide enough adjustment.
I ordered a new linkage/rod part thinking maybe the old one had slop in it and would not transfer the appropriate force. No luck.
It just would not push down enough. I needed like 5 more threads on the rod. What to do?
Sleeve nut to the rescue. With a sleeve nut and some threaded rod I was able to extend the rod the needed amount.
Now, door pops open like it should. And, I have some room to make further adjustments if the need arises.
My car has 144k on it, so wonder if this is something we might encounter more as the miles pile up on the cars? Also thinking that many of the handle problems are exacerbated by worn locking mechanisms.

Not sure. I just went to hardware store and see what fit. Maybe 10/32?
I know that the handle is metric but the sleeve nut went on very easily.
I should have taken a picture, but I did have to cut the sleeve nut in half. Otherwise, it is far too long.
