We're getting the ****ty weather over here as well... this morning it was already -0.5C!! YIKES! (for you fahrenheit-using persons, 0 degrees celsius is when water freezes )

I'm determined to install my MAP kit and scare everybody walking the local streets before I put the car into hibernation...

never seen one blocked up like that, but what ever works. it should be up, or else the tires will get flat spots.

as me and mein 912, she has been put into exteneded service for the time being. she was to go into hibernation on october 1st, but my daily driver isnt running. as soon as i can get the bummer going again, my maroon machine will take a long needed winters nap.

Nope, if you leave the weight on it in the same position for a long period of time everything will get bent that way and stay. Much better to have it on blocks.

I still should up the air pressure in the tires, eh, cuz I didnt want to completely raise the car off the ground, that'd mess up the suspension if left all the way up for a long time, right?

Has somebody actually flat-spotted their tires?? I kept my 944S in a garage for two winters, like 3-4 months each, did nothing but upped the tire pressures to some high number (can't remember but it was something past 45 psi) and moved the car around maybe once in a month. No problems what so ever.

I drive my car all year, as long as it's not snowing. Rain, no problems. Cold, who cares??

Last winter was one of the WORST as far as snow here in the North east. But as long as the streets were plowed, the 944 saw road time (well, till I sold it in March)!

Why store it away all winter?

this is a repeat message straight from a porsche service manager to me.
do not block up the car for the winter. his recommendation is to overinflate the tires only
good luck

Ok, so what really happened. Something big broke and you can't afford to fix it?

If people didn't drive their cars in Vancouver when the weather was bad....

I'm gonna drive my S2 all winter. Just bought a set of 6 inch Deisign 90's with snows. Gonna oil spray the bottom and fix the heated seats switch. Sould be fun!

It'll be a change though - with only ONE wheel drive compared to my rally car which was AWD and had an LSD at the center AND rear - so the thing REALLY hooked up in any condition. Just a magical feeling.

My new sponsored ride (WRX RA) has the same set up and about 350 HP - so that'll be fun. And after a rally I'll get back in the S2 and probably stuff it!

Nut, you give us Vancouverites a bad name. I will be driving all winter, except for the 5 days that they salt the road for frost. Oh, yeah, and this winter's sheduled downtime (ball joints, maybe new turbo.)

First consideration in choosing tires - wet weather traction. LSD + boost = interesting sideways experiences!
