Default Power in 944s

What are the best engine modifications for a 944S? Are there any components that increase power more significantly than they do on an 8V 944? I have a free flowing exhaust (cat and muffler) to bolt up and I will be ordering a performance chip in addition to slightly shorter gearing with 225/50 - 15 tires. I would think that a free flowing exhaust would really help more with the S (as opposed to the base 944) as it is burning a good deal more fuel in the upper rpms and it is revving higher.

BTW, the car will already have a lightweight battery (12 lbs) and racing seats in addition to some other weight reduction. Also, I already have the suspension components taken care of.

i think the best mod to a 944 n/a is to make it lightweight and have excellent suspesion.to be honest, theres not alot you can do to a n/a,but intake, exhaust system, and probably headers(too much cash).start by fully gutting out your car and put so suspension mods on and your pretty much set.hope this helps

I put a B&B cat back stainless on mine and noticed more midrange torque.

Yeah, I found an S in Indianapolis and decided to pick it up. It's in excellent condition and nearly everything has been recently replaced. The 16V engine should be worth ~3 sec a lap. The 84 will go up for sale sometime this fall/winter after I get it back to stock condition.

That track is Gingerman and that is coming out of turn 3. You can see that:

A) I can't get any use out of thicker sway bars without stiffer springs

B) I definetely need stiffer springs

While it looks like that front wheel is almost off the ground in the picture, the car feels much more stable than it looks (lots of grip). Kind of a weird effect - but what an easy car to drive the way I have it set up right now. I can lap all day in that thing.
