Break squeal

My breaks won;t stop squealing ang I don't think the pads are low. I have heard that there are some kind of anti-squeal pins on our calipers(car is an '86 951 btw). Is this true? What do they look like, anyone have a picture? If these are missing would that be causing the squealing?
TIA

I think they are called anti squeal shims. I've used them on other cars successfully and need them on my 951 right now. They slide in between nthe back of the pad and the caliper piston.

Hi Mike, depending on the version of brakes you have, the type of brake squeal dampeners will vary, but if your '86 951 brakes are stock, you'll need a whopping 16 of them, 4 per caliper.
The dampeners are metal springs and have adhesive backing. They stick to the back of the pads and once the pistons compress the brakes, they expand and reduce vibration, consequently eliminating brake squeal.
I recently installed them with new pads and the dampener part numbers for all 4 brake calipers are as follows:
964.351.096.01 (need 4 of these)
964.351.096.02 (need 4)
964.352.096.00 (need 4)
964.352.096.01 (need 4)
When the parts counter serves you, it's kind of strange because there are 4 different sizes of dampeners. This is because the front calipers are larger than the rear.
To install them, you'll need to separate the calipers from the brake pads or pull out the pads completely and slide in the dampeners with needle nosed pliers matching them up against the piston holes, one at a time, to make sure each one is properly fitted.
The dampeners should cost around $4 each (I paid Euros), so it should cost around $60-70 for a complete set.

try what i did, take off the brake pads and sand the front of the brake pad with file.then scrape the back side real good with a metal scraper and apply some brake pad grease(goto a local auto store and ask),let it set for 10-15 mins and put them back on,repeat on all 4 corners and your set.its more than likely that you have a rough spot on the front of the pads(mines was this also).hope this helps

v944god, I'm planning on doing it this weekend. I'll post pics when I'm done.
I'll have to pull apart the breaks, check the pads, and see whats going on in there. maybe I am missing the anti squeal pads.
Thanks
