Default 1984 944

A friend of mine in Arizona has a guards red/black 37K mile 1984 944.
His car came equipped with limited slip and sports seats but there is one option listed on the window sticker that we do not understand - Option Group H53 - with a stick cost of $1245. Any ideas what this group means ?

It's a package option. Porsche hasn't released a comprehensive list of package options so it's difficult at best to determine what options the package contained. Unfortunately, google and a visual inspection are likely your best bets.

I own an '84 Guards Red and Grey Beige leather, 944 with an H52 package option.

On the Monroney Sticker which was applied to the window, the H52 Group included :

Sunroof, Rear Window wiper, headlight washers, along with Sport Shock and H.D. front and rear sway bars ( the M456 group ).
It also has LSD - 220, 418 - body side mldg., 431- Sport steering wheel, 454- Cruise control, and 946- partial leather.
The rear wiper was 425, the headlight washers - 288, and the sunroof was 650. These codes are all listed on the white build code tag as well as the H52 code.

Your friend's car may well have one other option added besides all of the above, such as an alarm system from the factory, or a special stereo included in this marketing package. I have seen H48, H50, H52, and H54 cars, but never one that was an H53.
Please let us know what other option # your friend's car has on either the white build code tag or the original Monroney Sticker or white tag in the Warranty/Owner's Manual books original to the car and as verified by the serial number in that book which would be a match to the car's vin.

Congratulations to your friend on owning a very highly optioned ( and expensive when new ) 944. My car which I bought new in July of 1984 had a sticker of 27,800 plus the 1,000 dollar bump paid to the dealer. I waited for about a year and a half for my car to be built and delivered during this very insane time of supply and demand. I have heard of longer waits. And higher bumps paid to get their car.
