I may be wrong, but if I recollect correctly to constitution states that the president must be "Born" in this country. Even someone born to say a military family stationed overseas, born on a us base, is not eligable.

i have a copy of the consitution right here....
Article 2, Section 1 paragraph 5 reads, "No person except a natural born citizen, or a citizen of the United States , at the time of adoption of this constitution, shall be eligible to the office of president; neither shall any person be eligible to that office who shall not have attained to the age of thirty five years, and been fourteen years a resident within the United States."
So it would take a change of the consitution. I cant see that happening for a president yet. Who knows though.

Take's an Amendment. Super majority of the Senate and House and the States.
Personally I would rather see the first sentence of the 14th Amendment changed.
Gary Coleman and many of the others had a loosers party last night.

My understanding is that any person born on a US base overseas is considered to have been born on US soil.
Oh, there is one way you could be born outside of the US and still become president....live here when the constitution was ratified!

That would also ensure they were at least 35 years old! HAHA

I don't know about a military base but an embassy for example is considered US soil, and someone born there is a US citizen who can be elected president at age 35.

Maybe that was what I was thinking of.

Constitution? What is that? I believe the "patriotic" act doesn't recognize the constitution nor does Bush. Tripling the car tax? Whatever happened to taxation without representation? Oh, that's why we got rid of Davis. I am not laughing either. I am jumping up and down for joy. Someone is held accountable just like the CEO of any underperforming large corporation. The people expressed their views and apathy did not show its ugly face like in the past. I was glad to wait in line to vote. If he doesn't do what's good for California, I will vote for another recall until we find someone who can do the job even if that means Larry Flynt. He will probably include a copy of hustler with every ballot though.

If anyone thinks Arnold really cares about the people and has such a big heart, you should talk to some of the people that were at the filming of his movie Twins. The last scenes in the industrial complex were filmed at the LA County Sanitation District's main processing facility in Carson, CA. My stepfather was a foreman of one of the plant sections and he said that many his workers that were Arnold fans were more than a little bit dismayed when he refused to shake hands or even acknowledge the workers who would be displaced for a day during filming. Co-star Danny DeVito was mingling and taking pictures with everybody so I don't think it was a security issue, just a case of Arnold being a stuck-up a-hole.
This ridiculous ending (his election) couldn't have been better scripted for an already stupid process which has made our state goverment an embarrassment to the world.

Gary Coleman got around 9,000 votes. The porno star was just ahead of him.
