Default Windshield Nightmare

Hey everyone,

so after about a year of spending time, money and lots of effort on my project street auto-X 1985.5 944 NA setup, I was excited to finally drive my car on the road. I drove it around for a couple weeks knowing that the windshield had to be replaced due a large crack I created during my restoration. who do i ask to replace it? why not call safe-lite i thought to myself and have the insurance take care of the payment.

So safe-lite comes over to replace the glass and this is were this night mare began. the technician removed the old glass without first mocking up the new glass to see if it fits and it did not. I t was too short. Okay no problem they come the next day and get the right glass right? Wrong. The glass they have now is too big. so now they have to order the glass from the warehouse in Germany which takes 5 weeks. (they gave me a rental for the time being) German glass comes but they ordered just the glass and no seals or gaskets. Now they wanted me to order the seals from pelican parts which i did and they still have gotten it on cause they said the seals were the wrong ones after i spoke to pelican parts myself and triple checked. ( at this point im furious at the situation) so now were at the point were they ordered another set of seals. While im hoping these are right, and i just want to make sure its right, does anyone know the whole seal set for the windshield interior and exterior for the half year models.

Ps. i just wanted to tell you guys that this has been going on for 3 months and to just be careful with safelite cause they really messed me up. and they took the rental away about a month ago.

This is why I had my local Porsche dealership replace my windshield. All correct seals, professional install and no question about fitment.

Since my insurance is covering the bill, it doesnt cost me anything to replace with safelite.

the 3 seals that I know are these:

993-541-925-00-M100
944-559-943-03-OEM
944-559-341-00-OEM

these parts were ordered from pelican parts but yet it still doesnt seem to work.

I have had a couple windshields done by safelite, including my 924 a couple weeks ago, no problem and the 924 quote was $50-150 cheaper than other quotes I got, and then they actually charged me a few bucks less than the quote when they did the work, also seemed genuinely interested in the car and my plans for it.

Sorry for your troubles, but just shows that shops are only as good as the guys working there.
