Default Symptoms of Failing Ignition Switch?

Hey guys I wanted to get your opinion on symptoms of a failing ignition switch? Not the ignition cylinder but switch itself. I figure it would cause a no start or shut off when hot. Would it still crank the engine?

Yes, there's a contact for the starter solenoid and a contact for the ignition coil. Check for +12v between the black wire on the coil (positive terminal, green is actually ground in this case) and a chassis ground.

Another failure symptom I've seen is where the 'key-in' power doesn't come on OR doesn't turn off. Not sure if that comes up on the late cars, but it was an issue with the old switch that was in my car when I bought it, and is starting to crop up again with the replacement as well.
