Non-daily drivers SPEAK UP
#17
Well, with two Porsches under my care, it sometimes gets difficult driving them both every day...
On a serious note, there are two reasons I don't drive the 944 every day... First, is the obvious "sorta impractical" reason. Gas is more expensive for that car, as is routine maintenance. Secondly, now that she's got new paint and I have a garage, I try to not drive her when it's raining or there was snow within the past week. Which meant that this year, she got very little exercise...
Fortunately, what also helps is that my Jetta is dirt cheap to own/operate and a fun little car in it's own right. Sure, it's not as much fun as the 944, but I've been tinkering with it and it'll hold it's own. People wonder why, right now, I'm putting an emphasis on modding the Jetta rather than the 944, and it's simply because it'll make my daily commute much more enjoyable, and so long as the car stays clean and fun, I won't ever think about selling it and replacing it with something more expensive. $500/year in mods is still cheaper than car payments...

I used to daily drive my 951 in college, now I look back and cant believe I did...Anyways its a weekend car now, but its under a cover the majority of the time, it comes out maybe once a week, prob less than that. I hate for it to sit in the sun all day while Im working.

I bought my 951 to be a daily driver, I NEED to drive a Porsche every day and a 911 is just not a practical daily driver for me.
So the 911 sits...all winter and alot of the summer.
Thats just fine because the 951 is just as much fun as the 911 and I enjoy it equally if not more! Almost time to put the winter tires on!
(Ex- Porsche daily drivers, 85.5 944NA, 86 944NA, 87 951)

Every time i go somewhere i go, "PORSCHE TIME!" and then reality sets in and i take my GTI. I just cant see myself taking the S2 out into DC metropolitan area commute daily or during times where it is high-risk for morons on cell phones and laptops running into it. I can go a couple weeks without uncovering it sadly. It hurts though, it does. You really enjoy the PCA events and next season i might do some autocross. I try to make every single event that PCA holds in my region. Very rarely do i drive to work or school with it, or evenings out. Most of mine non-PCA driving is round trip leisure when no one is one the roads. Whats funny is i really kid myself. Im always saying when i get my Lamborghini, im gonna drive it everywhere! Ha, i say that, but if i pamper the S2 the way i do, the lambo is gonna end up sitting in the living room!

I have two Porsches, the 944 as a daily driver and the 928 as a weekend and summer car.
This makes sure that whenever I have a Porsche at the mechanic I still have another Porsche to drive.
And I take the train to work, would drive but it's a lot more expensive and takes longer time.

I have a 93' Nissan truck as a daily driver. I probably take out my 86na once every two weeks. The 84 that I am about to sell gets a hard run or two up and down the street every day. I want to make sure its sound before I put it up for sale. So far, everything with it has been great. The 86' Turbo just sits for now. Soon I will have the time to do the needed head work.

Well mines been under repair for over a week now, as I find stuff that's screwd up and old, I'm slowly replacing as much as possible. but yeah I'm REALLY missing gettting to drive it.
Luckly yesterday I got to ride in Ian's 320+HP 951 and Randy's new 968 cab. So that's been a temporary niccotine patch until I can fully enjoy mine own car!
Untill then I guess I'm relegated to sitting in the jacked up car and making VRROM VROOM noises as I hold the steering wheel.

I can understand if your car is broke, The car is there for the pure enjoyment of driving it. I will not take it somewere I feel it maybe in risk. Hell I go for 3 hour drives almost every day in the summer (since I am jobless *****) and burn lots of gas for only my own personal enjoyment. Car's are ment to be driven no to sit in garage's. I know that my own personal freetime is not how many people live as they have responsiblities. Like Kids,Wifes, work, jobs, paying rent, ETC...
The more you own in life the more you are a slave to it. I guess there is alot to be said about someone were there largest worry is a collage final.(Yes, I am a LUCKY SOB) Ohh crap... lol I better get studying.

Honestly its nice to get away from the porsche. After driving it for a long period of time I feel as tho I am killing it. Sounds wierd I know but thats the way I feel. So I went out and bought a honda civic and that gives me piece at mind.

I fear the college and work parking lots. I Rather not drive a P-Car there and come out to find one of my babies hurt.

And they do get driven fairly regularily. I like to make sure both P-cars are driven somewhere significant once a week, at a minimum. However, finite resources and the real world dictates that for most of my putting around and commuting and the like, it just makes more sense to drive the Jetta...
