Engine coolant block drain plug?
I know where the engine coolant block drain plug is supposed to be - beneath no.4 exhaust manifold port just above the curved horizontal casting line.
But I swear on my 1989 2.7L engine there is no plug in this location.
I'm very keen to drain the coolant from the head before loosening head nuts, so that I get an unmolested view of the head gasket.
Short of trying to syphon the block, any other suggestions for draining the block most appreciated.
Cheers
Dave

Aha. To quote from 19-2 of the workshop manual...the drain plug in the crankcase has been discontinued as from model 89. Draining facility from the auxiliary plastic connector on the water pump (for 944 turbo with thermostat insert only).
Still not much help to me, with my 89 no turbo engine.
Looks like I'd better disconnect the expansion tank hose from the water pump - better ideas VERY welcome!!
