Default Ran into a 997S on the highway. The old girl still has a few tricks up her sleeve!

Ran into a friend (12' 997S) on the highway and we did a couple of pulls for fun. I was surprised how well my pretty much bone stock (chip kit) 86 944 Turbo could still hang with such a new 911. Not bad for being almost 30 years old. Not only were these cars fast in the 80's but they can still command some respect from cars of today. Long live the 944!

On sunday I ran into a Ferrari 355 and we played for a mile or two... he was definitely way quicker though, obviously.

My 924 keeps glued to a 400hp 911 from 100km/h until 260km/h where my gearbox ends and probably the power and aero of the 924 are not enough to keep up with the newer porsches at such high speeds. But still...i'm happy with my old 924 turbo as well.

That's impressive. But was the 997S really flooring it?

He told me he was. The guy in the black 997S is a friend of mine from the Porsche club. We were driving back from a club meet and greet and decided to do a few runs on the highway for giggles. Here is another run. Unfortunately I didn't "brake boost" it on this run but you can hear him let off for a split second and get back on it, probably because the lag on the 944 is so bad he didn't think I was going. Not bad considering the HP on the 997S is 385 -- I was really expecting a total annihilation.

Your car does 0 to 62 in 6 seconds the 997S is around 4 seconds There is no way that 997S was trying or knows how to try

I'm not here to debate the run. We took the video and this is the outcome you see. You guys can make your own conclusions. No doubt it was fun though. I thought it would be fun to share and see how much bickering would take place.

This wasn't a 0-62 mph run either, you can clearly see we are both on the highway and his engine is screaming as he passes me so I doubt he was "sand bagging" but you never know?! The 944 I was in does have a stage 2 chip kit which was mentioned in the first post.

Slightly modded turbo eats 997s for breakfast. Mod it a bit more and it will eat 997 gt3rsr.

I had a similar run in my e46 m3 vs a heavily modified GTI back a few years ago. He was in boost and took me in the beginning, but I passed him about just as fast once he shifted, the m3 rev's out much higher and has more of a top end. I'd say about the same could be said of the 997S vs the 944t.
