Default What is included in a thorough N/A engine tuneup, and how much $$$?

I just picked up an '89 S2, and I want to get a tuneup and dyno'd before I start doing some mods. What does a tuneup include on these cars, and what should it cost? It also has light seepage from a couple of seals - front main seal, steering suction line - which I'd like to have fixed if it isn't major money.

A worn chain tensioner will destroy the 16 valve S2 engine-do you know when it as changed?

Front main seal requires the replacement of the oil pump sleeve that usually is worn.
Seal, sleeve, green "O" ring= about $60 in parts.

NOTE: all parts prices are from parts houses and not shop markup prices.

FOES-front of engine seals--engine reseal kit is $99 for parts. Labor another $300 to ??? depending on other work involved.

Wires, plugs, cap & rotor, new chain tensioner = +- $200 and labor

WYAIT parts about $300 to ??? +-$1000 for labor
Belts, rollers, WP if OEM or just do it, coolant flush, hoses,

Labor depends on your skills or trusting a shop to work on a 26YO car that has an engine reputation for valves hitting the pistons if done incorrectly.

All the info to DIY is on Clarks Garage.

Post your location to see about a local shop reputation.

Thanks! I'm in Maryland, and I've searched other threads - people seem to like TPC Racing.

ASM Performance is a good MD option with lots of experience on the 944.

Pretty far - I'm closer to DC than Baltimore, so DE is probably an hour and half away.
