Hey Chris,

That little red car isn't the only thing you have left, you still have us, your family. I know for a fact that you will be amongst us once again. You are too strong to let all of this keep you down. You have been through a TON of stuff and I can't imagine going through it and being as strong as you have been. Chin up my friend. We will ALWAYS be here for you.

You can count on us!

On what conditions will you be able to keep the car? Anything that we can do to help?

Always your brother,
Tim

I know what you mean exactly. Signs of time, the industry is interested in cheap labor not competency. Nowadays they are either farming out IT positions to India or China or they are bringing 'em in here. I managed to squeeze through the hole by moving from NYC to Albany. There's still some Govt positions available for contracting or civil service if you take the test. Some opportunities are left but one needs to dig deep to be found.

Chris... I feel your pain (also unemployed IT and selling the P-car, but I'm not nearly as attached to the car).. Anyway, I always like trying to think outside the box a little. Do you feel like the $$$ issue is something short term (less than a year)? If so, then look into the option of pawning the title ~ either to a company local to you or, if there's a willing soul on here, to a Rennlister. You get to keep the car, have the loan money to get things going and still the fire that passion brings into ones life that makes so many things possible.

That said - if there's anything I can do to help you from down here in Atlanta, just let me know. The IT market is REALLY soft here too though. I just hit the 3 month mark... only 3 more months of unemployment.. :\

The IT market is soft everywhere. It has nothing to do with you personally. Just keep plugging away and networking and something will come up eventually.

You guys and gals are the best.

I found out I have an interview in Dayton on Friday-
Sooo it's back to Ohio on Thursday which coincidentally is Patty's birthday as well- dont ask how old she is..

I feel the love- this IS like a family (without the dysfunction.. well almost- You know who you are...) I'm gonna try to hang onto my car- until it's no longer possible.

-- RANT MODE ON---
The #1 problem with getting hired in today's IT/ IS market is there is a glut of talent (and I mean talent!)out there and HR departments are getting swamped with resumes.
..this lends itself to HR departments taking forever to conclude the candidate selection process. Too many interviews (3 or more personal interviews for many companies I believe they forgot who "looked good" from the first couple of interviews with so many taking place.
Many HR departments also dont know how to interview, qualify and hire good IT personnel.
Case in point- I am STILL waiting for an answer from an interview I took in Columbus 4 weeks ago. - That's the MOST frustrating part.
--RANT MODE OFF--

So wish me luck, say a prayer, cross your fingers or whatever you do.. I really need this one.

Don't feel like it's solely an IT thing. We're adding a salesman here, and the quality of the candidates has been very high. In years past, we weren't getting this kind of response.

Chris...this is one of the saddest things I've heard in a while. I hope that you can hold onto the "S", but just remember that you still have your Porsche family here at Rennlist.

I hope that you find something soon. I have your resume and have distributed it to a couple of my sources, but the market sucks in Cincinnati.

If you need anything don't hesitate to contact me.

Jason

Brian- you are right, its all sectors of the market, but IT has been hit very hard.

Jason- Cinci is lukewarm.. Columbus and Dayton are pretty hot in IT right now- well not hot, but there is growth.

I appreciate it buddy!

Chris,
With her pretty toe-nails and all the work you have done, what do you see as fair market value for your car?
