Default 924S Heater fan questions

Is there anyone that has gone through changing the heater blower fan on a 924S? I have an 88 924S and the Heater blower fan is starting to make some bearing noises, and doesn't work on setting one (works on two and three). I've seen similar failures in other cars, so I would guess I have two issues - one electrical (resistors dying) and the other mechanical (bearings failing on the motor) However, after looking in my Technical reference catalog, and searching online... I'm super confused about what (if any) replacement parts are available. I see nothing listed on pelican, the dealer couldn't' find anything... is there really no replacement part available?

Under the hood with the covers off it does look like an early 924 fan, but I thought they were supposed to have revised the fans in 82.

The one diagram I found lists it as part#321 820 015b:

Part Number 18 here

It looks more like the early 924 to me. I've heard that you can still find early 924 blowers by buying one for a Transporter. Is that true? If so I can take the plunge and see if it will work on my car.

I'm hoping someone has the answer to this. Surely some other 924S has had this failure.

Note: My AC fan still works fine, this is just the heater/fresh air fan.

Default Are there numbers on the fan/motor?

If there are numbers such as Bosch or VW etc on the motor/fan unit try Googling them to see if something comes up. Ebay has used ones but what are the numbers? Is it a Bosch 0130062801 & VW 321820021? If so thewrenchmonkey.com (for example) has a new one while Ebay has some used . Good luck.

Yeah, that's a good idea. I've got a local VW parts source that is willing to let me take the blower and compare it to blowers they carry, too. If I find one I'll be sure to post about it on here.

Looks like the same PET print for my '83 944. The blower motors look about the same in the pic. Fairly easy access on my '83. If you decide to do the heater hoses , while your in there, expect to have some pblms..esp if you have A/C. the clamps are under the dash on the inside of the car..Ask me how I know...

OK. Just looked it up on my '82-85 944 PET. the motor # is: 321-820-015-B. This is a Bosch motor so the ones from an early 944 will fit also..

The blower motor may be bad, but the blower fan switch on the dash is also known to fail or not connect to a proper ground.
I have replaced the blower switch with no improvement.

The 88 924S circuit diagrams are at the back of WSM Volume V Electrics.
