Default FS: 1988 DME for N/A 8V Cars (944/924s)

Hello everyone.

I was trying to buy a DME for a backup for my '87 924S.

I bought a DME on ebay that was not listed correctly, it will only work for 1988 models. So, it's of no use for me.

Here are the numbers off the case:

BOSCH 0 261 200 086
Porsche PN: 944.618.121.05
TYP 944-MWS-02

Please confirm that this will work for your car just in case.

My understanding is that this was pulled from a running car.

I opened the lid to have a look, because the top of the case was pushed in just a little bit, I wanted to make sure nothing was getting shorted out to the case. It was never opened before this.

I would like to get $30 plus $10 S/H within the US. Or, I would take a straight-up trade for a working illuminated "Porsche" rear reflector that is still a deep red (matches the tail-lights, not orange-ish).

Is anyone interested? Please PM me.

Thanks!

chris - 87 and 88 were different, compression ratios were different.

on a side note - i have a chip for that dme/car for sale, will only fit 88 944/924S, its a brand new never installed weltmeister chip.

$75 complete with instructions and everything, shipping included.

Chris,

The '87 DME for 924s/944 was 944.618.121.04
The '88 DME for 924s/944 was 944.618.121.05

I think this was because of the compression bump for '88. So, this would work only for an '88 924s/944.

The factory manuals specify that it is a different DME. I don't want to experiment with my car to find out.

I will probably go and list it on ebay either tomorrow or Wednesday - noone seems interested.

Kevin,
I'd be interested. My winter project is going to be trying to rebuild my motor to '88 specs. Let me know where/when we can make a trade and I'll bring cash.
