1st attempt at re-upholstering my seats myself
Hey guys,
Just posted a video on my re-upholstery project. I know I can just buy new seats or new covers, but I wanted to try to learn how to do it myself. I love the singer 911 look and I want to do something like that on my own without me costing $300k for a Singer 911. Again this is my 1st attempt, far from perfect. I've never sewed anything before. Let me know what you think or any ideas!
here's a look without the cushion

Can you post a couple good pics of the finished product? Some of us are browsing in class I'm going to attempt to reupholster my set of sport seats in the future.

Nice, video. Intro was cool. Was that the finished seat? Do you have pics of it installed?
I need to do something about my driver seat. I was looking at only944.com's seat covers, which are nice, but would be nicer if they were actual leather.

Yeah man, I finished late lastnight so I will post the update of the finished bottom as soon as I install it. Probably tonight

So here is the results on the seat. It doesn't look too bad. Again this is my very first time sewing anything. I didn't want to try a stitch across because I'm not that good. I'm definitely doing suede next time, but Im going to use this as a prototype. I'm going to see how it wears for the next couple of weeks. However, I'm planning to complete the top insert and passenger seat this weekend. It may not be the best but it sure beats the huge crack in the leather going across and for only $32 for all the material I think it's totally worth it.
front can use some work but it's a good prototype

I did the same thing many years ago. My 944 had cracked and broken cushion leather. I bought a piece of leather. Perforated it myself with a pattern drawn on the back and dyed it. After carefully cutting out the original sewing I hand sewed it because I dont have a machine. The hardest part was the piping. I could not find the original color so I dyed the all the inserts. I most recently did the same with a cloth interior. But I should have bought stronger seat upholstery rather than regular fabric. It hasn`t torn yet but I think vinyl would have been a better choice. Anyone knows how to do rear seat?

I'm thinking about posting a video on how to use a sewing machine. Like calling out what all the parts are called, showing how to set the footer and release the tension to sew thicker material. How to load the machine with threat from the top and the bottom. For the guys that have never sewed with a machine before. I'm sure everyone can do it and a much better job then what I did. Looking for feedback to see if anyone is interested though.

You learn an incredible amount of new skills. I'm watching other guys videos and picking up on ways to shoot better. It's just awesome
