barn 924 "barn find"

Very true! I've never seen a set in person. I almost think if you could find a set, have them widened, and lower the car a bunch it would be a cool look. The problem is they are 4 bolt so you don't get any of the easy Porsche brake upgrades.

as someone on the very verge of moving onto a relatively super beefy S2, this makes me nostaligic for the 924S i have that i will probably sell. something super retro about the 70s styling and all the marketing material for the original 2.0l 924 with shots of young swinging sporty 4-somes taking their 924 for a trip hang gliding or some such 1970s activity.
rad find man. keep posting insights.

I've always maintained that if the 944 had the same front spoiler as the 924 or something close, it would be even better looking and it wouldn't have any of the problems the spoilers have nowadays (being literally bent out of shape and deformed).
Then again, we did get the front spoiler from the 924 Carrera GT, a compromise I suppose. I also wished the 944 had a cool "Carrera GT" version as well. The 924 truly had many more radical variants than the 944 it seems, must be a 70s thing.
It's amazing the number of 924s I see on craigslist in good shape, yet it seems it and the 928 I hardly ever see on the road. I kinda want a 924 for fun.

Pleasure to meet you. I will be needing a front cover and under tray.
I drained the oil out of my trans... it was so clean I could have drank it!
So I figure the 4 speed manual guts are fine, which means the metal dust exiting clutch scater-shield (bellhousing) must mean the clutch is destroyed.
As for what other parts I'll need, I am un sure at this time, do you have any trans/clutch stuff/torque tubes?
Cheers!

Temping my brother, but no. I gotta keep this car as the factory made it. Maybe no one else cares but I do.
If it has flaws, so be it.

But I certainly agree with you, the euro bumpers are so nice

+924 to her originality less the stack of receipts)) a 100hp was glorious in the day.
see if the threaded inserts for the injectors are ok. maybe 17mm allen. at some point, the accumulator was increased from 20 to 40 cc on the vws to alleviate some hot start drama....and the WUR. fun stuff.
on my friends champagne edition we would bread tie the throttle plates together....like a ghetto response cam. sounded really cool until the tie broke. that car lived on three wheels

So here is my story from the weekend. My british friend & I went for coffee & decided to go visit this "barn find" which was an 8 hour road trip (on paper).
By the time we arrived to the small town of Canmore, Alberta it was pitch black.
Based on detailed discussion, I would be able to drive this car home. I was told it was in a barn for years with a cover on it. Then at some recent point in time the car was sold to a young man who drove it for 2 years & than the gentleman I spoke with (a mechanic) did some basic electrical repairs for a no start. And also performed a thorough safety inspection. It was "good to drive and will come with safety approval".
So we made arrangement to meet at Fountain Tire.
The fellow met us at the door and the shop was ours. The car looked, well GOOD for it's age. He raised the car on the hoist & WOW. Very clean. Original paint. Minimal rust. Some dings and whatnot.
What I was looking for was an original car, as Porsche & Volkswagen designed it.
