Guys,
I have been having no wipers for awhile now. I was only getting a weak response to the stalk and they would move very slowly. So, I bought a used motor and wrestled it all out today. While I had the wiper frame out, I tested the new-used motor in the car...it was dead. I hooked the original one back up the same way, it worked, but would only in the intermittent, low and high. it did nothing when the stalk was in the middle setting.
So, is the stalk my problem? Should I put the orig. motor back in or get another one of those too? thanks for the advice.

Jason, if you do a search for porsche wiper motor on the internet, I think you will come across a couple or tech articles, maybe check pelican but they talk about how to test the stalk and the relays, the whole setup is a pain in the .... If I was home, I have the links and articles saved... sorry... but seriously porsche 944 wiper motor... and I think you will find the articles, then of course check here using search and then pelican... but I had the same problem, ended up being dirty contacts on the switch... I just replaced the whole assembly, I had a spare.
I cleaned every contact point I could with care.. but look up the articles.
Good Luck

Wiper motors on the 944's will get soaked when the drain gets pluged up with leaves and floods the area. This ruins the bearings in the motor. Also causes pitting of the commutators.
The two wiper shafts will gum up with road crap. This may be flushed with the wiper bracket in place but I've found that most have to be taken out and disassembled to be properly cleaned.

I will bump, I took apart both my original motor and the one I got used. the used look about 3x worse, not hope for that one. I think I will try to clean and reassemble my original one. Any more tips?

Ok, so I took the motor apart and cleaned the rust off with sandpaper and lots of pb blaster, buttoned it up, greased all the wiper rack points and spindles, and it works! with no chatter!
