Hi RL'ers-
Been suffering vibrations from low to mid range lately, turns out my ex-wrench put on my lower balance shaft pulley 180 degrees off. I'm trying to get the pulley off after I removed it's front piece and bolt, and it's not coming off. Haynes says it should slide off the shaft no problem.. Am I missing something?
Thanks everyone
Ian

Yeah, use a puller. Due to space confines, you may have to get creative - I last used a couple of long bolts and a generic H-shaped puller from Advance Auto, using the edge of the bolt heads to just catch the sprocket, if memory serves. These things are sometimes on there pretty tight. YMMV Al

Use the usual wd40 and I used a pair of screw drivers to tap under the pulley 180 degrees apart alternatively. Sometimes there is rust there so it will take a bit.

Just had to finagle it, the balance shaft is fixed and I am AMAZED at how smooth the car feels. I'm convinced it has never run so smoothly. Tomorrow, alignment!
Thanks a bunch

Now you know what an improperly installed balance shaft pulley feels like. Nothing like bad engine mounts.
The one I just fixed on another car had been 170 degrees out since the fellow had bought the car.
