Default How do you get the sensor bracket loose?

Is there a secret to loosening the speed sensor bracket allen screws? Is it possible to do this without removing the heater control valve? I've tried every angle and tool combination in my box to try to get access and It's starting to look like the heater control valve needs to come out. I hope not.

Any one out there that's overcome this. please chime in. Thanks

On my s2/968 franken car, i just used a hex socket and a ratchet for one and an L-key allen wrench for the other.

Sorry, I've only done it on engines out of the car.

Well, today I pulled off the upper hose of the HCV and moved it out of the way. I plugged up all the miscellaneous holes so nothing would get on the clutch. Guess what? Some idiot in the past (probably the one who left off the shim) used a TORX head bolt instead of an allen head. No wonder I couldn't get the thing to come off. Tomorrow I'll hook up the connectors and see how it goes. Once the bracket was loosened, the shim on the end of the sensor probe method couldn't be easier.

Replace the bolts with something fresh once you get them loose, don't leave a stripped head time bomb for yourself.

I've dropped the engine in the past by removing the engine mounts. That should give you the clearance you need.
