Default OT Mythbusters JATO car

So this show on the Hitler Chanell or discovery or some such, they have these two nerds and try to re-creat Urban legends and see if it could be done or not. They strapped 3 large Ametuer rocket motors on the top of a 66 Impala, to simulate a JATO pack, and let it loose in a dry lake bed. Car was remote controlled.

Well they had this problem you see. It was an old car and the fuel filter had crud in it. So it kept running like crap. Just before there going to light this thing off they pull the fuel filter and clean it out.

Alls I have to say is that they fully expected the car to be demolished (It wasn't ran like a raped ape) if this is the case. WHO CARES IF SOME CRUD GETS IN THE ENGINE. Pull out the filter and throw it away.

Don't know why this othered me so, but it did. Just the idea of cleaning out the filter on a car that they had just riped apart, welded a frame and strapped three rocket motors on just seems like an idiot job.

There was something else like that, but I can't remember what. Too tired.

Oh yeah. I remember what else bothered me now.

They went through all this effort and no one thought to get a radar detector to see how fast it actually ran.

I watched it also...said the same thing to myself "Why the hell didnt they ever tell me how fast it went". Although they said something like "The top speed of the helicopter was 130mph" and then later on they said that the heli was having trouble keeping up with the car. Its a pretty interesting show so far, although i like Monster Garage and American Chopper much more.

Yeah, I did enjoy it... the PopRocks/Coke thing after was funny/gross, if a little silly... well, OK, a lot silly!!!

Yeah, I was disappointed by the lack of a radar gun... kinda stupid, though I do understand they wouldn't want anyone standing downrange in the impact zone!

I was also disappointed by the fuel filter debacle, mainly in that they couldn't be bothered to replace a $2 part. Duh. Though they did have to clean and re-use it... remember, that protects the carb needle/jets from clogging, which would've been pretty bad for them - they needed to get the car up to speed first using the motor, after all...

Chris and I watched it Tuesday and Wednesday night. It was kind of neat, but we were really frustrated at how much time they showed in the preparations of disputing the myths. It took an hour to do 2 segments which was too much for me. Just show me the good stuff..

I saw some of their shows last season. You have to watch the myth where they replicate a women's butt out of silicon to see if it can get stuck to the pressurized toilet seat on an airplane.

Sid.. It was a waste of time.. I figure I could have edited out about 70% of the "aired content" and it would have been entertaining.

At best- use TiVo. I thought this show had such promise from the trailers- but too much "Jesse James Monster Garage" action in this POS.
Dont get me wrong- "MG" is awesome- but the camera techniques, the 15 minute setup , go to commercial, recap and .. finally payoff.. bored me.

The entire hour could be truncated into a 30 minute piece. WITH a lot of commercials. THAT would be entertaining.

BTW- I damn nearfell outta my chair when I heard " Now all I need is a midget with some gin and I'm in business" Sid, you are one sick man.

I agree. The format totally blew. But I did want to see a 66 Impala with a rocket strapped to it. But I probably wont watch it again.

The fruitcake with the Beret also has the personality of a tomato.

HEard it? You hearing voices again Chris. You know your supposed to take your medication.

slevy, pm me info on where to send it, and I'll upload the show tonight.
It's in DivX format, should be about 500MB per hour (I'll cut out the JATO part to reduce it).
