Default Need Help Deciding, Please!!

First thing... if you stop by dont just look, vote or post some comments.
Ok friends I need some help.

Those of you I have talked to know I have a few different projects going on. Well I spent Saturday going over things with my friend and trying to decide which products to do first.

We have the following in the works or on the drawing board:

Fiberglass NA Hood (prototype complete)

Fiberglass 924 Turbo Hood

Fiberglass Vented 924 Turbo Nose panel

Fiberglass 968 Turbo RS Wing

Fiberglass 968 Turbo Style Hood for the 924/944 Dual NACA Ducts and Vent for intercooler.

968 Rear end for 924/944 (mock up done)

I would like my fellow rennlisters to vote on these. Then I can show the results to my friend and get him a little more motivated. Its hard to get someone to start doing something else, when what he has been doing for 30+ years works and makes him money. I am sure all of these things would sell... but I need to decide on what to do first and I was thinking start small and do the Vented Nose, then the turbo hood. Then on to other things...

I know a lot of you told me you want me to do the 968 Turbo RS Wing... but thats not as easy as some of the other projects and will take some serious convincing to get that finished and into production.

SO PLEASE PLEASE help me out. Before I get disgusted and just give up and stick to just work for my own cars.

And for those of you who know me well, you know I would give the stuff away if I could, but I have to make and sell enough to pay for the work and labor... IE pay my friend. I have of my money invested already...
So throw me a bone, vote!

The reason I voted 'give up', is that it seems that there is fierce (sp) competition out there for fiberglass parts for any car. You will be new and it would (in my opinion) be hard to find customers to buy your products unless you have an edge (lower, much lower pricing; something brand new or a part that needs replacemnt constantly). If you have money to invest, put it into a mechanical bolt-on go fast parts for 944 - a supercharger system for NA motors for under $2000, lighter pulleys, etc... This stuff will sell, since there is very little stuff you can do to NA motor and all of it is expansive.

Just a sincere feedback. I appologize if it got you offended.

Thanks

I voted for the 968 Turbo RS style hood because I think it will be the best seller (and I want one) and the 968 rear end because after looking at Lumbergs Lackey's car, I realy want to do the conversion (just not sure if I want to pay the price for an original rear end.

Well I can do the 968 rear in fiberglass, the lights would be the expensive part, take a look at www.x3m944.com thats a fiberglass part on a 944 not a 968, its a mock up... but doable.

As for competition I dont give a S&)* about that. I am not doing it to get rich, I would be happy if it pays for itself and I get a little here and there to invest in my collection and cars.

Its a good point about being new, I am, but my friend has been in buisness for almost 30 years and if you add up the experience in his shop, they have over 50 years of knowledge and experience, doing everything from custom one off stuff to replacement parts, cobra bodies, complete front ends and custom hot rod bodies, so quality is there, and the price... well you can bet I will be cheap.... I know I can beat the us market on prices.

I voted vented nose because that is the only product on the list i would ever consider buying. the thing is, all the vented nose panels i see are not to my taste, they just dont match with the lines. If you manage to make a more attractive looking piece, people would be interested, better yet, if you made a piece that did not look vented, however it still is, I would definitely be interested. some hour make the air come in at the ends keeping it looking stock? Just an unfeasible idea...

The white car... thats my idea for a 951 vented nose... two big vents... nice smooth, plenty of air flow. Not perfect.... but seems to fit in that mock up.

Lots of things that could be done, fiberglass is a lot easier to modify wants you have the finished product, than metal... you just cut and sand the shapes you want.. or just one big opening, personally I prefer the dual, vent, has nice symmetry, not the biggest fan of the four hole setup, but if you have 924 turbo, goes with the car....

FWIW, I don't have the money for it now, but,if they were available, I would certainly eventually consider buying a fiberglass hood that looked completely stock and worked with the stock hinges and latches just to save weight

I put my vote in for the turbo hood. I love the look of those naca ducts--a suttle and unique look. The weight saving would be nice as well. I would be concerned with waveyness (sp?) and fit. Can a fiberglass peice be made to match the factory fit and finish?

Well the hood if doing the 924 Turbo, would be a mold from one of my OEM hoods. Although I figured a race hood would be the way to go.

Here is a link to the basic information on the type of hood we have done, just a plain fiberglass hood. just imagine with either single or dual NACA duct(s). Of course the 968 TRS style would require a reverse vent.

How about 951 rear valance for less than 200.00.

Lots of N/A guys (well, at least 1, me !!) would like one, but it's WAY too much for 3 pieces of used fiberglass on ebay.

Do a search on completed ebay auctions and see what those damn things sell for. Seems like an easy item to start with.

Glad to see you picked up those 931's!!! I voted for the vented nose, since it actually does help improve the cooling, and here in Florida, that's a plus. Would have grabbed one if I had more time, but glad you ended up with all of them. Looks like you have your hands full!

Take care,
