Default OT: Father going to Qatar

Found out my Dad is going to Qatar for about 3 months (until Feb.). If any of you are going to be near him, say hi for me! Colonel Des Rosier is a P-Car driver as well! Best of wishes to our people overseas!

What branch is he in?

Make sure he knows we are all thankful for what he is doing and I am sure he will be fine.

Robert - Quatar is a terrific place. When I lived in KSA I used to go quite frequently. It is a drop dead beautiful place to live. He may not want to come back.

He is in the Air Force, and it is true he may not want to leave! After living in Okinawa in the 80's he will not stop about wanting to go back. I'm not sure what exactly he'll be doing over there, but I believe it will be some sort of medical command. I told him I'll drive his car during my christmas break, which I'm sure made him uneasy !

Is he going as a member of a JTF-SWA team? There is very little there with the Air Force, mostly Navy and Marines (due to its obvious location on the map). Army guys stationed in the area tend to be PSY-OPS and COMM guys. Given the opportunity I would go back to KSA to live. I know a lot of my friends would too.

I don't know, he hasn't said much to me about his group. He is a medical officer though, won't be seeing combat I'm sure. And hey, gets him out of SC for a few months! Too bad my step-mom has to stay!

Seems like the A.F. way, tell little. My dad was in for 24 yrs. Tell him to take lots of pictures. You will really be surprised.
