New 911 Turbo made with MOPAR parts???

I am inclined to agree with the masses on this one. The auto trans is what keep the 'vette from being anything more than a touring car for little old ladies. Autos of any sort dont belong in real sports cars.

while they are different in practice they are the same in nature, both boring and offer little to no feel. The tip does not offer quick enough shifting for my taste. Then again, there is some handicapped person who is happy about having a tip (I know one personally).

Let's not forget, Chrysler built the venerable Torquflite 727, as tough a slushbox as ever was. Behind the 383s and Hemis of yesteryear you might find one. Shifts crisp enough to ****** the ashtray off its rollers.

Funny you should mention the Torqueflite, I just spent $600 to have mine rebuilt.. I guess those burnouts at the 944fest(s) and 295's resisting were too much for her to handle. I think one should have to drive a tiptronic (sport-o-matic?) before you condem one. It's a lot like saying Vettes or ferraris are junk before putting miles on them. ( I can say pre-c5 vettes were junk) If i haven't experienced it firsthand, I won't knock it..

"...tip doesn't belong in anything turbo..."
my turbo as tip...
i LOVE my tiptronic...just because not everyone wants to HAVE to shift EVERY time they drive the car doesn't make it any less of a car...so closed-minded
oh, I also like the 914...and Cayenne

They're fun any way you look at it. I like driving a manual too, but I drive through neighborhoods most of the time and stop sign to stop sign with a stick is just plain BS.
You cannot, and I mean cannot judge tip by driving one for a few minutes around the neighborhood. I was skeptical as hell until I spent a few weeks driving my parents Benz around. Auto for cruising and damned close to the feel of a good manual box for fun. What's even more interesting is that the auto mode on their car is outstanding. No lag, no early shifts, actually quite sporty in its own right.

well tim your car isn't a sportscar. we are talking about sports cars. also sportomatic isn't the same as tiptronic. my late friend had a sportomatic 911. '75, he couldnt use his left leg to push a clutch, so he got a sportomatic, loved that car and babied it like nobodys business. i wish i'd had a shot at buying that car. instead of pushing the clutch you push down on the shifter, that disengages/engages the clutch. very tough to drive, but good if you cant use a clutch pedal.
a little background info.

Who cares what it is? If you like it, get it. Have fun with it. If you don't like it, don't get it and not worry about what others like or not like unless you are so insecure you have to get others to agree with you to validate your own choice.
