Default Is this ground battery cable OK?

I want to replace the negative ground battery cable in my car. I bought one off rockauto. The small wire that goes to the firewall in the new cable is about a third or quarter of the diameter as the original one on the car. Looks like I will have to solder a connector instead of using that butt connector.

Why? Just crimp in a piece of #10 gauge wire with a ring connector on the other end. bolt that to the firewall and you're done! Grounds all over the place! You might want to add one from the engine block to the coachwork somewhere too. Dorman makes a great small one with rings on either end..it's a braided cable and about 5/16-3/8 inch wide. A great aux ground cable.
