Default Canadians! Where do you get your parts??

Got the S2 - it passed e-test and cert with flying colours. The drive home, in the pouring rain, yesterday was un-eventful, but uncovered the horrid nature of the current tires - they will go shortly.

A 3 hour in-depth inspection last night revealed 48 problems to fix - if I want it back to perfect condition. I'll priortize that list shortly.

But the question now is - where do Canadians buy their Porsche parts???

Second - where can I get a Factory Manual that includes the S2?

Thanks in advance,

RK

I usually use Paragon, e-bay, Downtown Fine Cars or Whaletail. Who did the second inspection, you?

I ship to Canada if you need anything from Rennbay in the future. Same shipping price for US or ROW.

I've always been very happy with www.vertexauto.com. They have great prices on replacement parts. If Rennbay has the parts you need go with that too. Travis will ship stuff out very quickly.

Paragon, 944Online, Rennbay, local dealer. Try to get the suppliers to ship US postal Sevice (USPS); slower, but only costs $5 brokerage fee (plus PST&GST.) All of the above were happy to ship parts to me by USPS. UPS will be at least $50 brokerage fee.

I have ordered my parts from places in both the Us and Canada. However, I now try to get them only from Canada. I find that even if the purchase price is more. You more than make up for it on shippping costs and brokerage fee's. I have got stuff from Whaletale and the Calgary Dealership with very good luck so far.

I have also ordered parts from Vertex auto in the states, service was good. However prepare yourself for brokerage fee's

Does whale tail have a site? Google doesn't find one.

I'd like to stay "Canadian" if I can and love the thought of just driving to pick up parts - so Toronto dealers are best.

Any Toronto spots people prefer?

Thanks,

RK

I don't think WaleTail has a web site but they have their new parts store in Milton and their used parts in Waterloo.
Info:
Waterloo: 519-699-4911
Milton: 905-876-0429
waletail@golden.net
fax 905-876-2699

I have also ordered from the dealerships, Furtmair Auto Service in Kitchener, Vertex, Performance Products, and Porschapart in Toronto.

Here is the Whaletail website......

http://home.golden.net/~waletail/

I get parts through either them or Markus Blazak. Sometimes Whaletail is cheaper, sometimes it's Markus - depending on the part. Markus is VERY helpful and a good guy who knows more about 944's than I will dream. He is his info....

Does a brokerage fee get charged if shipped via USPS? I didn't know that.

The other option if you have to get parts from the US is FedEx ground. Their brokerage fee schedule is much more reasonable than UPS though still a rip as far as I'm concerned unless you can get the vendor to lie about the fair market value of the shipment.

No brokerage fee with USPS, big one with UPS and maybe others.

Acutally, the brokerage fee with USPS is a flat rate Can$5, which is next to nothing.

I steal all mine from Travis's car, after midnight is the best time. :}
or you could try our favorite autocross sponsor www.weissach.com Although I think they get some of their parts from Travis's car too. ***tic***
