951 Koni spring slips, making a pop sound.
CAR: 1986 951
ISSUE: Passenger-side Koni Yellow strut (on the car when I bought it) makes a popping sound when I turn the wheel lock-to-lock when elevated off the ground. Only happens on this side of the car, when elevated. Not sure if it's happening on the road.
Is this normal because it's unloaded (on jack stands)? I've noticed that it's time to replace the ball joint in the A-arm of that same wheel--there is play. Perhaps they're related?
Any feedback on how I might do a system-check on these struts to make sure they're operationally sound would be a great starting point but I'm not having much luck searching.
