They were available in the 1988 Celebration specific model. I do not belive they were available in turbos unless maybe a special order.

Wasn't there a "Silver Rose" option or limited run in 89? They had seats sort of similar to the celebration edition cars.

Silver Rose was a 1988 option only. They had a unique burgundy based plaid.

Only the 1988 Celebration edition had the black and white plaid.

It depends on the market. For the U.S., as noted, the only black and white Plaid delivered was that on the 1988 base model Celebration edition.

In other markets, Plaid was much more common and frequently ordered.

In the U.S., Plaid was available on the 968 but very, very rarely selected. This may have also been optional on the 944 series. If so, it was very, very rarely selected.

All this is to say that, yes, it is possible a 1989 Turbo came to the U.S. with Plaid. However, it is unlikely.

It wasn't uncommon in Europe;

It is very unfortunate that not many cars in the US have plaids. I would kill for any and all those plaid interiors!!

Pasha gives me flashbacks......the colors...... The only plaid type design listed in my 1989 944, S2 and Turbo color and trim brochure is called Studio Check, available in black, blue, burgundy and linen grey. As always in fine print at the bottom of a page is *Subject to change. Who really knows what materials they might have used up to get rid of it, practical Germans you know .
